JUST TOO BUSY!!

Seems like I have too many balls that I am trying to juggle at once right now.

We are meeting several times a week with our builder to finalize plans for the remodel of our house; I am STILL sorting and packing; I am trying to finalize the remaining details of settling Mother's estate; and I am busy with several writing groups and church responsibilities. In addition to all that, two of our neighbors have been sick so several of us in the neighborhood have rallied to help feed their families. I have only contributed food once this week but I have been the "reporter" for the neighborhood and I am trying to keep everyone informed through e-mail.

I think I need juggling lessons!

Writing about Adventure

I was preparing a writing prompt for one of my writing groups this afternoon and thought that some of you might want to try your hand at writing a piece of your own story. Here is the writing prompt about Adventures in Your Life:

“Adventrue is worthwhile in itself.”~Amelia Earhart

“Life is a daring adventure or nothing at all.”~Helen Keller

Our life story, chapter by chapter, is the story of our adventures. Start by making a list of the ten most interesting or unusual adventures you have had.

You can define “adventure” in any way that makes sense to you. Use these questions to help you organize your thoughts:
· What kind of adventure was it? When? Where? Who was involved?
· What happened?
· What did you learn through your adventure?
· What was your most exciting adventure?
· What adventure held the greatest danger, physical or otherwise?
· Have you had an adventure that changed your life?
· Have you had an adventure that broke all the rules?
· Have you had an adventure that was painful?
· What adventure took you the farthest?
· What adventure led to the greatest reward?
Write about one or more of your adventures.

Now that you have had a chance to think about your adventures, take a moment to consider adventures from another angle?
· Have you had adventures that you wish you had not taken? Or,
· Are there adventures that you wish you had taken?
Write about an adventure that you wish you had or had not taken.

Working, working...for Story Circle Network

Today I spent the entire day working on nametags for our Story Circle Network (SCN) national conference, but it is a labor of love. I have been involved with Story Circle Network for about 5 years now. It is a wonderful group dedicated to helping women write their stories. For several years I ran a program developed by SCN called Older Women's Legacy (OWL) designed to help older women write their stories. What fun that was! I still participate in a Continuing OWL writing group made up of a number of our former OWL participants who just could not stop writing. We published a collection of our stories last year just in time for Christmas.

Our national conference this year is February 1-3 and will be held in Austin, Texas. It is one of the most interesting conferences I have ever attended--very professionally done with women from all over the country attending. I always enjoy the workshops and learn more and more about writing. I will participate in a panel on blogs. They tell me that I am the newest blogger on the panel, so I will discuss my experiences with blogging for a little more than a month by that time. I will also do a workshop on "Words That Heal."
