TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES

I am a bit lacking in technological skills and it takes me a long time to figure things out by myself. Yesterday I talked about pictures I wanted to consider painting when I return home from New Mexico but could not put the pictures on my blog once I had downloaded them to my picture file on this laptop I am using. I fiddled and fiddled with it last night and finally fell asleep in frustration. Today I decided to try a different procedure and, as you can see, it worked! It may be unconventional and my techie son may groan when I explain what I did, but the bottom line is that IT WORKED!!

The first picture is the view from my bedroom window yesterday at midday. The second is a sunset picture the first day I was here and the third is a sunrise picture the next morning.

The fourth picture is of an arrangement in the kitchen that made me think of painting a still life. The shapes and colors intrigued me.

  1. my all time favorite "Grandmother" pics are her still lifes. I have several since I live with dad.
Go for the still life when you get time. Also, thanks for the holiday update, we enjoyed it.

  2. Don't worry about "how" or "why" it worked, just be glad it did! I am an engineer yet am terrible at figuring out a lot of the technical stuff... eventually I just became grateful when it worked. :)

  3. Yes, Cathy, I think I WILL go for the still life. Tmy he big pot and the two copper pots were pieces that brother gave Mother years and years ago. She always kept them in the kitchen. When we moved Mother closer to us we made sure he got them and they are now in his kitchen. I think it would be neat to paint them for sentimental reasons.

  4. Pat,

Sometimes we just have to fiddle with things and learn for ourselves and find a way that works for us. I do graphic art design and websites. But I taught myself and a "real instructor" would probably cringe at my methods, but like you said, they work! And I have a full-time marketing job using those skills to prove it. Good for you. Don't ever give up and keep learning these techi things.

  5. I love the last one best as the textures and shapes are something I would use here.
