I am going to Amarillo to record a story from my book, Growing Up in the Texas Panhandle, for NPR. A woman contacted me about a month ago and wanted permission to have someone record a story for her and, after much thought, I volunteered to be the reader for the recording.

I am excited about the trip because:
  • I will have a new experience of being in a recording studio and reading one of my stories for lots of people to hear.
  • I will also get to spend the weekend with my #2 Son and his family with three of my granddaughters.
  • AND I will get to see Son #2 participate in a triathlon for the first time.
  • I will also get to visit and have lunch with my good friends at Amarillo National Bank--these people are the greatest!!

  1. It sounds like a spectacular weekend! Have a great time, Pat.

  2. Pat, that's the most exciting thing I've heard all day -- all week! Congratulations all over the place. Be sure to let us know how it goes. Which story? Woo hoo. I'm so excited for you!

  3. It sounds wonderful and especially recording your story!!! Can't wait to hear how it all goes!

  4. YAY...what happy news!!! I think it's great to have the author of a book be the one to read it, if possible. I hope you can have someone take a photo of you in the recording studio so we can see it!!! Enjoy the family time, too.

  5. No doubt it'll be a trip/adventure you'll not soon forget. Travel safe and be blessed!

  6. How exciting! Congratulation and have fun!
